We are excited to announce that Kathleen O’Doherty, RN, BSN, OCN, has joined us in the role of Nursing Care Coordinator: Oncology Outreach, a joint navigator position between Main Line Health Cancer Care and The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson.

Kathleen will work closely with physicians and members of the multidisciplinary care teams at both institutions to coordinate patient care at Main Line Health and Jefferson by serving as the primary contact for physicians, other care team members, and patients throughout the continuum of care.  Among the services Kathleen will coordinate include: second opinions between centers, referrals for bone marrow transplant, clinical trials/research referrals between centers, and the efficient return to the originating organization for additional cancer services including medical, surgical, or radiation oncology. Consistent with Jefferson’s commitment to providing care locally, she will also ensure timely return to referring physicians, local testing when possible, and efficient transfer of medical records.

Kathleen’s office on the Jefferson Center City campus will be located in the Cancer Network Office at 1015 Chestnut St, Suite 622.  Kathleen’s Main Line Health office is located at Main Line Health Center in Newtown Square (484-337-6106); however, she will communicate with all Main Line Health campuses as well as Jefferson to support the needs of our common patients. During her initial months, Kathleen will spend time on each campus meeting with our clinical teams, attending tumor boards, and interacting with our existing navigators and patient care coordinators.

Kathleen has more than 10 years’ experience as a nurse on the oncology inpatient floor at Lankenau Medical Center. During that time, she participated in numerous committees including Clinical Ladder, Unit Council, and Oncology education. Additionally, she served as a preceptor for graduate nurses and career change nurses, emphasizing chemotherapy safety and the implementation of ONS and MLHS policies.

Please join us in welcoming Kathleen!
