The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University is pleased to announce the appointment/hiring of James A. Posey III, MD as the new Director of the Gastrointestinal Program in the department of Medical Oncology, effective July 1, 2016.
Dr. Posey will be joining our staff as a Professor and GI Program Leader for the Division of Solid Tumor, of the Medical Oncology Department. Previously, he served as the Associate Professor of Medicine at the University Of Alabama Birmingham School Of Medicine, and the Senior Scientist at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Posey also sat at the Chair of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center GI Working Group and Chief GI Consultant for the Division of Hematology/Oncology at UAB Hospital. He also was the Chief Medical Advisor for Circulogene Theranostics where they were delivering non-invasive cancer tracking and monitoring with the potential to improve quality of life and cancer treatment.
As the new Director of the Gastrointestinal Program, Dr. Posey will work to enhance clinical service provided to all patients impacted by gastrointestinal cancers by improving clinical trial recruitment and retention and facilitating additional translational research opportunities. It is our goal to have the most novel therapeutic interventions from first in human phase I trials to outstanding multi disciplinary care plans.
